NIFTEP’s Spring 2020 workshop will be held at Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta from 4:00 pm Friday, March 20 – 3:00 pm Sunday, March 22, and will focus on persons who will be teaching a law school course on ethics and/or professionalism for the ﬁrst time. In particular NIFTEP welcomes participants who will begin a full-time law school position in Fall 2020 for whom teaching ethics and/or professionalism will be a regular part of their teaching package. The workshop will introduce a variety of methods and materials for teaching ethics and professionalism presented by experienced teachers of legal ethics and professionalism who will present a variety of innovative methods and materials. The workshop will be followed on Monday, March 23, by the Burge Conference on Law and Ethics, sponsored by Georgia State University. Participants are encouraged to stay for the Burge Conference with an opportunity to participate in a panel representing the perspectives of recent law graduates on their own experience in participating in ethics courses and professionalism programs.
NIFTEP workshops are generally limited to 20-25 presenters and participants. Participants are chosen through an on-line application process (hyperlink). Participant applicants should be full-time law teachers (eﬀective Fall 2020) with preference given to those who will be teaching a course on legal ethics and/or professionalism for the ﬁrst time in academic year 2020-21. In particular NIFTEP welcomes participants who have accepted a full-time position beginning Fall 2020 for whom teaching ethics and/or professionalism will be a regular part of their teaching package.
There is no registration fee for NIFTEP workshops. Food and accommodation during the workshop will be provided. NIFTEP will consider reimbursing airfare up to $500 for participants not currently employed by a law school and 50% of airfare for current law school faculty, based on application information and available funds.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis beginning December 23, 2019. Priority consideration has been extended to applications received by January 22. Click here to access online application.
